Mrs. Nayana Arjun Gunde is a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, renowned for her unwavering commitment to public service and administrative excellence. Her academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, in 1988, where she graduated first in her class. She further pursued a Master of Arts in Political Science from Pune University in 1990, earning a Gold Medal for her outstanding performance.

Embarking on her civil service career in 1992 as a Deputy Collector, Mrs. Gunde's dedication and proficiency led to her promotion as Additional Collector in 2007. In 2016, she was inducted into the Indian Administrative Service, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Gunde has held pivotal positions across various districts in Maharashtra, including Sangli, Solapur, Nashik, Osmanabad, Wardha, and Nagpur. Her roles have encompassed serving as Additional Municipal Commissioner in Nagpur, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad in Wardha, and Chairman and Managing Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML).

As the Additional Municipal Commissioner in Nagpur, Mrs. Gunde spearheaded initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, conducting early morning inspections to oversee street cleaning operations. Her hands-on approach and resolute leadership were instrumental in Nagpur Municipal Corporation receiving a National Award from the Ministry of Urban Development for the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).

In her capacity as Chief Executive Officer of the Wardha Zilla Parishad, Mrs. Gunde's focus on health, sanitation, education, women's development, housing, and agriculture yielded remarkable outcomes. Under her stewardship, Wardha achieved 100% Open Defecation Free (ODF) status ahead of schedule, becoming the first district in Vidarbha to do so. Her efforts in digitalizing 85% of Zilla Parishad schools significantly enhanced educational infrastructure. Additionally, her initiatives facilitated substantial loan disbursements to women's self-help groups, empowering them economically.

As the Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, Mrs. Gunde prioritized delivering a clean, safe, and punctual bus service. Her tenure was marked by efforts to strengthen the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and the phased replacement of outdated buses with new ones. Her leadership was recognized nationally when PMPML received an award from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for improving the kilometers per liter (KMPL) efficiency of buses in January 2020.

Mrs. Gunde's exemplary service has been acknowledged through multiple national awards, reflecting her dedication to public welfare and administrative acumen. Her career continues to inspire many in the realm of public administration.
