Dr. Mitali Mukerji, PhD, FNASc, is a distinguished Professor and Head of the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. Her academic journey is marked by a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, completed in 1997.Prior to her tenure at IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Mukerji served as a Chief Scientist at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), where she was instrumental in establishing pivotal genomics initiatives. Her research has significantly contributed to the understanding of rare genetic disorders, population genomics, functional genomics of repetitive sequences, and the innovative field of Ayurgenomics, which integrates Ayurveda with genomics to personalize healthcare. Dr. Mukerji's exemplary contributions to science have been recognized by her election as a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India.
